Weddings don’t have to be all about the white dress, 3-tier wedding cake, and robust floral centerpieces. They can be full of life and personality, reflecting the unique traits that make you, you. Inject a little personality into your big day with a fun themed wedding. Are you still as obsessed with The Notebook as the first time you saw it? Consider a vintage theme to reflect your favorite Ryan Gosling movie by wearing a vintage dress, birdcage veil, complete with a seaside splash engagement session. Or did you and your honey meet at a carnival? Rent a red and white striped circus tent and a popcorn machine and bring the carnival to you. Have a truly personal event by incorporating all that is meaningful to you and your partner into your wedding day. Whether you have small details or giant gestures, why not have a little fun with your wedding? Theme weddings can be as calm or as kitschy as you want: go as big as theme superhero costumes for your entire bridal party, or as tame as an action figure boutonniere. Here are 6 wedding themes we love.
1. Superhero theme
Love conquers all. Show the world how amazing your love is with a superhero themed wedding. Or, maybe just how geeky you two really are. We love these superhero boutonnieres made from action figures and the stealth invitations that open to reveal the event details!

2. Disney’s UP theme
There is hardly a more romantic Disney movie than UP. We’ve seen countless themed weddings of this movie and we love each and every one. The props are easy enough to gather (suitcases, balloons) and that grape soda pin is the cutest boutonniere we’ve seen.
3. Camping Theme
Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom seemed to put wedding-themed engagements and weddings on the map. The theme is fun, young, and well, campy. If you guys love the outdoors, consider a woodsy wedding with wildflower bouquets, s’mores to take home, and maybe even a little hike to your wedding destination. Just make sure to tell your guests beforehand.

You guys love to travel but asking your guests to fly to the French Riviera might not have been the most realistic. Ditch the elopement idea and include your loved ones by bringing the destination home. Consider some cool passport or map-themed invitations and thank you gifts and have your guests sign a globe with well wishes for safe travels to the new couple.
5. Literary theme
Books have the ability to sweep us away to a different time and place. Perhaps you guys bonded over your love of Jane Austen or your eyes first met over the tops of books across a local coffee shop. Incorporate them into your big day with centerpieces, this amazing book arch, or (for the origami enthusiast) simple bouquets made from pages of well-loved novels.
6. Carnival theme
Really bring the party home with a carnival or circus theme. A day turned night affair will have your guests munching on hot dogs from your gourmet hot dog stand, dining under a striped circus tent, and thanking your for all of the fun carnival games they haven’t played since childhood. Bonus if you love red and gold as you can embrace these bold theme colors all over the place.
Would you ever consider a theme wedding?
